| Beschrijving keerzijde | A double-headed axe (labrys) dominates the central field, its broad symmetrical blades tapering to a central shaft, with a small pellet visible at the junction of the blades — a hallmark type of Tenedos referencing the island's legendary association with the labrys. The Greek ethnic legend TENEDION is distributed around the field in four segments: ΤΕΝ above and ΔΙ-ΟΝ flanking the lower portion of the axe. In the lower left field, a small crayfish (astakos) is depicted, and in the lower right field, a bunch of grapes, both serving as secondary symbols. The incuse square is absent, the design being struck in full relief within a plain circular border. |
