| Beschrijving keerzijde | Deep incuse square divided into four rectangular compartments by a raised cross-bar, forming a characteristic quadripartite incuse punch typical of early Greek coinage of the late sixth century BC. The individual compartments show alternating raised and sunken surfaces in a mill-sail or swastika-like pattern, a hallmark of the so-called 'archaic incuse' technique employed by Thracian and Ionian mints of this period. The surface within the incuse is rough and undecorated, reflecting the early stage of reverse die development at Abdera. No legend or subsidiary devices are present. |
