Reverse description Nude youthful Herakles stands facing left in a striding pose, his right hand resting upon a grounded club and his left arm draped with the Nemean lion skin, a quiver visible over his left shoulder. The composition is bold and heroic in the Hellenistic tradition. A control monogram appears to the left of the figure in the field. The encircling Greek legend reads ΗΡΑΚΛΕΟΥΣ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΘΑΣΙΩΝ, identifying Herakles as the Saviour and patron deity of Thasos.
