| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena facing right, wearing a Corinthian helmet adorned with a prominent crest; flowing locks of hair emerge beneath the helmet and cascade along the neck. Side was one of the most commercially active ports on the Pamphylian coast, and its silver tetradrachms of this period reflect that prosperity directly — the city maintained striking autonomy even as the broader region was being pulled into the gravitational field of the Seleucid and then Pergamene spheres. These coins circulated widely in eastern Mediterranean trade, and examples turn up across a geographic range far exceeding Side's own political reach.
