Side was one of the most commercially active ports on the Pamphylian coast, and its silver tetradrachms of this period reflect that prosperity directly — the city maintained striking autonomy even as the broader region was being pulled into the gravitational field of the Seleucid and then Pergamene spheres. These coins circulated widely in eastern Mediterranean trade, and examples turn up across a geographic range far exceeding Side's own political reach.
The Seyrig reference situates this piece within the France 719 die study, a classification drawn from Henri Seyrig's foundational work on Pamphylian coinage held in the Bibliothèque nationale collection.
