Obverse description Laureate head of Zeus Naios of Dodona facing left, rendered in fine high-relief Hellenistic style with the oak-wreath crown characteristic of the Dodonaean cult. Below the neck truncation appear the letter Θ and the ΣΕ monogram, serving as mint or magistrate control marks. The portrait displays strong sculptural modelling of the facial features, with a flowing beard and deeply set eyes typical of the period. The oak-wreath references the sacred grove of Dodona, the chief oracular sanctuary associated with this Zeus epithet.
