| Reverse description | Dionysos depicted standing nude to the left, his weight balanced in a relaxed contrapposto stance. In his extended right hand he holds a bunch of grapes, while his left arm supports two long thyrsoi or spears and a billowing chlamys draped over the arm. Monograms appear in the inner left and inner right fields as magistrate or control marks. The encircling legend reads ΔΙΟΝΥΣΟΥ ΣΩΤΗΡΟΣ ΜΑΡΩΝΙΤΩΝ, identifying the coin as issued by the Maronites in honor of Dionysos Soter. |
