| 背面描述 | Forepart of a man-headed bull (the personification of the river god Gelas) facing right, his human head turned frontally in the characteristic Sikeliot manner; a standing female figure, identified as the nymph Sosipolis, faces the bull and extends her arms toward it in a crowning gesture. The bold, high-relief modeling of the bull's muscular form and the graceful contrapposto of the nymph reflect the accomplished die-engraving of the Geloan school circa 440–430 BC. The reverse field is unencumbered by a border of dots, emphasizing the monumental quality of the central group. |
