Obverse description Frontal depiction of the silphium plant, the emblematic medicinal herb of Kyrene, rendered in bold relief. The central stalk rises vertically from the base, with three pairs of lateral branches spreading outward symmetrically, each terminating in heart-shaped seed pods. The uppermost portion displays a stylized flower head. The design fills the broadly rounded flan with confident archaic artistry, the naturalistic yet stylized treatment characteristic of early fifth-century BC Kyrenean coinage.
