| Obverse description | Laureate head of Apollo facing left, rendered in the refined early Classical style, with finely engraved parallel hair lines swept back and bound by a laurel wreath of broad leaves. A curl of hair escapes behind the ear, and the facial features—high cheekbone, delicate eye, and slightly parted lips—display the idealized naturalism characteristic of mid-fifth-century Sicilian die engraving. The portrait is set within a beaded border, occupying nearly the full diameter of the flan. |

| Reverse description | Facing scalp of a roaring lion, depicted frontally with bared teeth, a wrinkled muzzle, and a full mane rendered in bold relief, the powerful image serving as the civic emblem of Leontini. Surrounding the lion's head are four barleycorns or grain seeds arranged symmetrically in the field, alluding to the agricultural wealth of the Leontine plain. The ethnic legend ΛΕΟΝΤΙΝΟΝ is inscribed in Greek characters, distributed around the central device. The composition reflects the accomplished die-cutting tradition of mid-fifth-century Sicily. |
