| Obverse description | Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, rendered in high relief in the Hellenistic style. The goddess wears a triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with elaborate scroll and foliate ornament on the bowl, with a prominent neck guard and cheek pieces. Flowing locks of hair emerge beneath the helmet and fall along the neck. The facial features are finely modelled with a strong profile characteristic of Cretan coinage of the late Hellenistic period. A dotted border frames the design. |

| Reverse description | Owl standing to right with head facing forward, rendered in the Athenian New Style tradition, perched upon an amphora. To the right of the amphora, an eagle stands to the right with wings closed. The entire composition is enclosed within an olive wreath. The design draws heavily on Athenian iconographic conventions while incorporating local Cretan elements distinctive to the mint of Hierapytna. |
