Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena in right profile, rendered in high relief in the Hellenistic style. The goddess wears a triple-crested Attic helmet decorated with elaborate scroll and foliate ornament on the bowl, with a prominent neck guard and cheek pieces. Flowing locks of hair emerge beneath the helmet and fall along the neck. The facial features are finely modelled with a strong profile characteristic of Cretan coinage of the late Hellenistic period. A dotted border frames the design.
