Reverse description Nike, the winged goddess of victory, is depicted striding to the left in three-quarter view, wearing a flowing chiton with detailed drapery folds. She extends her right arm forward, holding a wreath or fillet, while her large spread wings rise dramatically behind her. The Greek legend KATANAION is inscribed around the field, with the letter H (denoting the denomination) visible in the left field. The whole is enclosed within a beaded border, and the high-relief carving exemplifies the masterful Early Classical style of Sicilian mint engravers.
