She extends her right arm forward, holding a fillet or wreath toward a long-necked heron standing before her to the left. The legend ΚΑΤΑΝΑΙΟΝ runs along the upper periphery of the field within a dotted border, identifying the issuing city of Katane. The composition is elegant and dynamic, characteristic of the finest die-engraving traditions of early classical Sicily. |
