| Obverse description | Head of a youthful, beardless Herakles facing right, wearing the lion-skin headdress with the scalp drawn over the crown and knotted at the throat, the open jaw and mane rendered in fine detail in the archaic Greek style. The facial features are modeled with careful attention to the cheek, ear, and eye, conveying a serene, idealized masculinity characteristic of early Macedonian coinage. The flan is slightly irregular, as typical of hammered issues of this period. |

| Reverse description | A tripod lebes depicted in the field, with three loop handles and legs terminating in lion's paw feet, rendered in a precise linear style. Above the tripod, a laurel branch extends horizontally across the upper field. To the right of the tripod, a long-handled axe (pelekys) is depicted vertically in the right field. The ethnic inscription ΦΙΛΙΠΠΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing city of Philippi. |
