| Reverse description | Deep incuse square divided into four triangular compartments by a raised cruciform pattern, characteristic of the early archaic mill-sail or quadripartite incuse technique employed by Abderite moneyers of this period. The surface of each triangular section is irregular and granular. No inscription or subsidiary device is present. This reverse type is consistent with the earliest issues of Abdera prior to the introduction of ethnic legends. |
