Tigranes IV and his sister-wife Erato ruled jointly under Roman supervision following the collapse of Artaxiad dynastic authority — their co-regency was less a sovereign arrangement than a managed settlement brokered by Augustus. Erato had previously ruled alone, been deposed, and was reinstated alongside her brother, making this issue a product of the most turbulent phase of late Armenian Artaxiad politics.
The dual references to both Bedoukian CAA#165 and #166 reflect die or fabric variations Bedoukian distinguished within this type.
