Reverse description An upright sword sheathed in its scabbard, complete with a baldric or shoulder strap, centrally placed and dividing the Greek inscription in the field. A royal monogram appears in the left field, identifying the issuing authority or magistrate. The composition is bold and martial in character, consistent with the iconographic program of Pontic bronze coinage associating the city of Amisos with the military power of Mithridates VI. The design elements are rendered in clear, well-spaced relief typical of civic Pontic bronzes of this period.
