Obverse description Bare head of Ares facing right, wearing a crested Attic helmet adorned with a plume, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait style characteristic of Pontic civic coinage under Mithridates VI. The facial features are modelled with idealized youthful vigor, the neck truncation visible at the lower field. The helmet cheekpieces frame the face, with the high crest sweeping backward in profile. No legend appears on the obverse; the design field is otherwise plain.
