Additional information

Amisos, a Pontic coastal city with deep Greek colonial roots, came under firm Mithridatic control during the reign of Mithridates VI Eupator, who transformed it into one of his principal administrative and military centers. Bronze civic coinage of this period reflects the city's semi-autonomous status — it retained the outward form of polis coinage while operating squarely within the Pontic royal economy. The SNG Black Sea and Copenhagen references place this type within a well-documented series, but surviving examples in decent condition are less common than the citation density suggests.
