| Obverse description | Youthful bare head of Mithradates VI, portrayed in the guise of Dionysos, facing right, with flowing wavy hair and adorned with an ivy wreath bearing prominent leaves and berry clusters. The idealized portrait displays fine Hellenistic workmanship, with well-defined facial features and long locks falling behind the neck. The field is plain, with no legend or exergual inscription. |

The legend ΑΜΙΣΟΥ is inscribed in Greek characters along the lower portion of the field, identifying the issuing city of Amisos. The composition is rendered in a bold, competent Hellenistic style characteristic of Pontic civic bronze coinage of the late second to early first century BC. |
