Reverse description A cista mystica depicted centrally, its lid ajar, with a panther skin draped over the top and a thyrsus rising vertically behind it; a monogram of HTPK appears in the left field. The legend ΑΜΙΣΟΥ is inscribed in Greek characters along the lower portion of the field, identifying the issuing city of Amisos. The composition is rendered in a bold, competent Hellenistic style characteristic of Pontic civic bronze coinage of the late second to early first century BC.
