| Beschrijving keerzijde | Prow of a war galley (trireme) facing right, with oar-bank rendered as three horizontal ram-like projections, and a forecastle post rising from the bow. The civic ethnic ΠΑΝΤΙΚΑ / ΠΑΙΤΩΝ is inscribed in two lines, divided above and below the prow, all within a beaded border. The composition is compact and typical of Panticapaean civic bronze coinage of the Asandran period. |

Asander seized control of the Bosporan Kingdom by murdering his predecessor Spartokos and then, in a calculated political move, married Dynamis — granddaughter of Mithridates VI — to legitimize his rule. He governed for decades, initially as archon and later claiming the title of king, before Rome under Augustus pressured a reorganization of client relationships in the region. This issue falls within his final years, a period when Roman influence over Black Sea client states was being actively consolidated following Actium.
