The deity is rendered in a vigorous, somewhat archaic style typical of Thessalian bronze coinage of the mid-4th century BCE. The ethnic legend ΓΟΜΦΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field to the left of the figure, identifying the issuing city of Gomphoi. The overall composition fills the irregular flan with minimal border treatment. |
