Obverse description Laureate head of Apollo facing right, rendered in the robust Thessalian style characteristic of the 3rd century BC. The deity's youthful features are framed by thick, wavy locks of hair beneath a laurel wreath, with finely modelled facial details including a straight nose and slightly parted lips. The neck is bare, and the letter Φ appears in the field behind the neck, serving as a die-control mark. The portrait fills the flan with considerable presence, exhibiting the confident craftsmanship typical of northern Greek bronze coinage of the period.
