Reverse description Zeus Palamnaios, the protector deity of the Gompheans, seated to left upon a natural rocky outcrop, rendered in a relaxed and authoritative posture. In his extended right hand he holds a long scepter, while his left hand rests upon the surface of the rock beside him. The ethnic legend ΓΟΜΦΕΩΝ appears in the field, identifying the issuing community. The composition is consistent with standard Thessalian civic bronze iconography of the fourth century BC.
