Obverse description Facing head of a bearded male, rendered in archaic style with bold, stylized features occupying nearly the full field of the flan. The visage displays deeply incised eyes, a broad nose, and a prominent beard with radially arranged locks framing the face. The treatment is characteristic of early fifth-century BC Lesbian coinage, reflecting the archaic artistic convention of frontal portraiture. The compact, irregular flan imparts a slightly convex relief to the design. No inscription or border ornament is present on this side.
