| Obverse description | Facing Boeotian shield rendered in high relief, occupying nearly the entire flan. The characteristic cutouts on either side of the shield are clearly visible, giving the design its distinctive concave silhouette. The surface displays the typical broad, convex central boss of the Boeotian shield type. The style is archaic and bold, consistent with early Boeotian federal and civic coinage of the fifth century BC. |
