Reverse description Central device consisting of a large crowned heraldic shield bearing the complex nine-fold quartered arms of the Duchy of Lorraine, incorporating the arms of Hungary, Anjou, Guelders, Jülich, Bar, and Lorraine among others, surmounted by a ducal crown with floral ornaments. The shield is set within a plain field and enclosed by a beaded inner border. The surrounding Latin legend MONETA.NOVA.NANCEII.CVSA. proclaims this a new coinage struck at Nancy, the ducal capital.
