Obverse description Armored bust of Duke Henry II of Lorraine facing right, depicted with a short beard and ruffled collar, wearing plate armor with decorative pauldrons. The portrait is rendered in the Renaissance manner with fine detail in the facial features and drapery. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading clockwise from the upper right, separated by a cross. The field is plain, and the coin's hammered flan shows characteristic irregular edges typical of early seventeenth-century Lorraine coinage.
