| Obverse description | Armored bust of Duke Henry II of Lorraine facing right, depicted with a short beard and ruffled collar, wearing plate armor with decorative pauldrons. The portrait is rendered in the Renaissance manner with fine detail in the facial features and drapery. A circular Latin legend surrounds the effigy, reading clockwise from the upper right, separated by a cross.
