Reverse description A crowned royal shield of France, bearing the arms of France ancient (semé of fleurs-de-lis), centered within a multi-lobed polylobe border formed by a ringed inner circle. The workshop mint letter appears at the base of the shield, identifying the issuing mint. A circular Latin legend derived from Psalm 115 surrounds the entire composition, reflecting the standard devotional reverse type of French royal silver coinage of the period.
