| Obverse description | Large scallop shell depicted in high relief, displayed symmetrically with radiating ribs fanning outward from the base, occupying the full field of the flan. The shell's ridged surface is rendered with bold, deeply incised lines characteristic of the archaic Italian cast bronze tradition. No legend or inscription is present. The flan is thick and irregular, typical of the aes grave series produced at Venusia in the early third century BC. |
