Surrounding the cartouche, a continuous circular legend in bold naskh script carries the titles and names of the nominal overlord Sultan Mahmud Khan and the effective ruler Amir Timur Gurkan. The field between the inner cartouche and the outer legend is fully occupied by flowing calligraphic text, leaving no plain field visible. The flan is irregular and slightly dumpy, characteristic of hammered Timurid silver coinage of this period. |
