Tanka - Sultan Husayn Abu'l-Ghazi - 3rd reign - Post-Reform Type Herat mint

Husayn Bayqara's third reign in Herat — effectively uninterrupted from 1469 until his death in 1506, the "third reign" designation reflecting earlier dynastic turbulence — coincided with the last great flourishing of Timurid court culture. Herat under his rule was home to Jami, Bihzad, and Alisher Navoi simultaneously. The post-reform tanka type reflects a currency rationalization undertaken as Husayn struggled to maintain fiscal coherence against Uzbek pressure from the north, pressure that would culminate in the Shaybanid conquest of Khorasan within two years of his death.
