| Obverse description | The obverse field is entirely occupied by a multi-line Arabic calligraphic inscription executed in a bold, fluid Naskh script, struck in high relief on an irregularly flan. The legend reads, in five lines across the field: 'al-Sultan al-A'zam / Khaqan al-Zaman / Abu al-Fath / Muhammad Shaykhan / Bahadur Khan', proclaiming the full royal titulature of the Shaybanid ruler Muhammad Shaybani Khan. The script fills the field from edge to edge with no decorative border, the raised lettering showing characteristic hammered die workmanship with some areas of crowding and overlap typical of Central Asian tanka coinage of this period. |

| Reverse description | The reverse field bears a three-line Arabic Shi'a religious formula in bold Naskh calligraphy, densely struck in high relief and framed within a partial decorative arch or cartouche visible at the upper portion of the field. The upper line carries the Shahada 'La ilaha illa Allah' (There is no god but God), the middle line reads 'Muhammad rasul Allah' (Muhammad is the messenger of God), and the lower line reads 'Ali wali Allah' (Ali is the guardian of God), reflecting the Shaybanid acknowledgment of Shi'a formulae on coinage struck at Mashhad. The surrounding field shows residual flatness and surface marks characteristic of hammered silver coinage, with the inscription partially running toward the rim on the irregular flan. |
