| Beschrijving keerzijde | Central field bearing a large Gothic capital 'A', the royal initial of King Afonso VI, prominently struck within a plain inner circle. The letter is flanked and accompanied by the mint and date elements. Surrounding the central device, within an outer beaded border, the legend reads 'AT / I-D 1661', incorporating the assayer's initial, the mint identifier for Diu, and the year of issue. The hammered strike imparts a characteristic unevenness to the flan and legends. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Afonso VI's reign was effectively a regency under the Count of Castelo Melhor, and Portuguese India by 1661 was a shadow of its former commercial dominance — Diu itself had survived a second Ottoman siege decades earlier but was increasingly isolated as Dutch and English competition strangled Estado da India trade routes. Coinage from the Diu mint in this period was produced in modest quantities to serve a contracting local economy, and survivors attributable specifically to this mint are meaningfully scarcer than Goa issues of the same type.
