Additional information

August II ("the Strong") acquired the Polish throne in 1697 only after converting from Lutheranism to Catholicism and outbidding rival claimants — including Prince François Louis de Conti — through a combination of Saxon treasury funds and strategic bribery of the szlachta electors. The Leipzig mint struck these fractional thalers throughout the chaotic years of the Great Northern War, during which Charles XII of Sweden installed Stanisław Leszczyński as a rival king, temporarily displacing August entirely between 1706 and 1709.

The span of Kop. references here — 10844 through 10866 — reflects meaningful die variation across the emission period rather than a single type.
