Obverse description Half-length armored effigy of King John II Casimir Vasa facing right, wearing a cuirass, royal crown, and the chain of an order of chivalry, with a sword at his side. The king holds a sceptre in his raised right hand and a cross-topped orb in his left. The portrait is rendered in the high-relief baroque style characteristic of the Kraków mint, set within a continuous Latin legend encircling the field.

Reverse description A large crowned royal coat of arms of King John II Casimir Vasa, displayed on a square cartouche-style shield bearing the quartered arms of Poland and Lithuania along with dynastic elements, surmounted by a royal crown and flanked by the chain and badge of an order. The date 1649 is divided and integrated into the reverse legend, with the mint initial G P (Grzegorz Piotrkowczyk, Kraków mintmaster) appearing at the end of the inscription. The continuous Latin legend surrounding the shield records the king's additional titles.
