Reverse description The crowned arms of Gdańsk (Danzig) displayed on an oval shield at center, featuring two silver crosses on a red field — the upper cross of St. George and the lower cross pattée — surmounted by a royal crown. The shield is supported on either side by two rampant lions facing inward, each grasping the shield. Above the achievement, a decorative spray of foliage and fruit serves as a crest. The mintmaster's initials G-R appear in the lower field flanking the date, with the year of issue (e.g. 1639) displayed in a cartouche at the bottom. The circumferential Latin legend reads: MONETA ARGENTEA CIVITATIS GEDANENSIS.
