| Obverse description | Central field occupied by the crowned royal arms of Poland: the Polish eagle displayed beneath a royal crown, with the escutcheon of the Bathory family (three wolf's teeth) at the base. A circular Latin legend runs along the periphery, separated from the central device by a plain inner border. The design is rendered in the crude but vigorous style characteristic of hammered minor coinage of the late sixteenth century. |
