Reverse description Central field displays a large crowned double-headed eagle, its wings spread, serving as the arms of the Polish Crown; on the eagle's breast is superimposed a smaller shield bearing the arms of the city of Olkusz (a cross potent), identifying the mint of issue. The date 1580 appears in the upper field, divided by a cross. The surrounding peripheral legend reads SOLIDVS REG POL, abbreviated from Solidus Regni Poloniae, denoting the denomination and issuing kingdom. The overall design is boldly struck in the hammered tradition, with the eagle rendered in a vigorous late-Renaissance heraldic style.
