Obverse description The Pahonia (Vytis) heraldic device of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania occupies the central field, depicting an armoured knight on horseback galloping to the right, holding an upraised sword and bearing a shield charged with a double cross. The design is set within a beaded inner circle. A Latin legend runs around the periphery, partially reading IOA·CAS·D·G·R·POL, referencing the royal titles of Jan II Kazimierz Waza. The overall style is characteristic of mid-17th-century hammered coinage from the Wilno mint.
