| Beschrijving voorzijde | Central field features the crowned double-headed eagle of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, displayed with wings spread and rendered in the late Renaissance hammered style typical of the Gdańsk mint under Stefan Batory. The eagle is set within an inner beaded circle, beyond which runs the circumferential Latin legend STEPHAN.D:G.REX.POL.D.PRVS, identifying the issuer as Stefan Batory, by the grace of God King of Poland and Lord of Prussia. The outer border is composed of a rope or cable pattern encircling the entire die. The lettering is crisp and follows the standard epigraphic conventions of late 16th-century Polish royal coinage. |
