| Obverse description | Central field occupied by a multi-line Arabic tughra legend arranged in horizontal registers within a plain inner circle, surrounded by a beaded border along the coin's irregular periphery. The inscription, rendered in the characteristic Ottoman calligraphic style, fills the entire field. A numerical date notation, corresponding to AH 1099, appears in the lower portion of the field. The hammered flan gives the coin its characteristically uneven, slightly scalloped edge. |
