Reverse description Hammered gold reverse bearing a four-line Arabic inscription filling the field, comprising the Islamic shahada followed by the mint and date formula: 'La ilaha illa Allah / Muhammad rasul Allah / Duriba Mawsil / 926' (AH). The mint name Mosul (Mawsil) and the AH date 926, corresponding to 1520 CE, appear in the lower lines. The calligraphy is rendered in characteristic Ottoman Thuluth script with interlacing strokes. The strike is slightly off-center, consistent with hammered coinage of this period, with no surrounding border.
