| Beschrijving keerzijde | Hammered gold reverse displaying a multi-line Arabic inscription in bold thuluth script, filling the entire field within a beaded border. The legend records the mint name Mosul (الموصل) and the regnal year 926 AH, the accession year of Suleiman I, struck in deeply incuse relief against the irregular gold flan. The calligraphy is characteristic of early Ottoman provincial mint production, with flowing strokes and interlocking letterforms. The flan edges are uneven, reflecting hand-hammered manufacture typical of Ottoman sultani gold coinage. |
