| Beschrijving voorzijde | Hammered gold field bearing a bold multi-line Arabic legend in characteristic Ottoman thuluth calligraphy, occupying virtually the entire flan. The inscription, rendered in deeply struck raised relief, carries the royal tughra-style titulature of Sultan Suleiman I. A dotted or beaded inner border frames the field, consistent with Ottoman sultani coinage of the early sixteenth century. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, typical of hand-struck Ottoman gold issues of the period. |

The legend records the mint name Mosul (الموصل) and the regnal year 926 AH, the accession year of Suleiman I, struck in deeply incuse relief against the irregular gold flan. The calligraphy is characteristic of early Ottoman provincial mint production, with flowing strokes and interlocking letterforms. The flan edges are uneven, reflecting hand-hammered manufacture typical of Ottoman sultani gold coinage. |
