| Obverse lettering | سلطان عثمان ابن احمد خان عز نصره ضرب في دمشق ١٠٢٧ (Translation: Sultan Osman bin Ahmed Khan May he be victorious Struck in Damascus 1027) |
| Reverse description | Multi-line Arabic honorific legend filling the field within a dotted border, extolling the sultan as the 'gold striker, the glorious and victorious on land and sea.' The inscription is arranged in three or four horizontal registers in a bold Ottoman calligraphic style consistent with the obverse. A decorative geometric or floral motif is visible at the centre left of the field, serving as a dividing ornament between lines of text. The dotted inner border frames the legend in a manner typical of Damascus-mint Ottoman sultani coinage of the early seventeenth century. The flan edges are irregular, reflecting the hand-struck hammered production technique. |
