Obverse description Multi-line Arabic legend filling the coin field within a dotted border, reading 'Sultan Osman bin Ahmed Khan, may his victory be glorified, struck in Damascus 1027.' The inscription is arranged in several registers across the flan in a bold, calligraphic Ottoman hand. The mint name 'Damascus' (دمشق) appears prominently in the lower register, with the AH date 1027 inscribed at the very base. The irregular flan, characteristic of hammered Ottoman gold coinage, gives the piece a slightly uneven outline. No figurative imagery is present, in accordance with Islamic numismatic tradition.
