| Reverse description | Multiple horizontal lines of Arabic inscription filling the entire field, presenting the Islamic profession of faith (shahada) and the mint/date formula in flowing Ottoman calligraphic style. The legends read across the flan in dense, closely-spaced lines characteristic of Ottoman gold sultani coinage of the period. The irregular flan edge and hammered fabric are consistent with provincial mint production at Tripoli. |
