| Obverse description | Hammered gold flan of irregular planchet bearing a multi-line Arabic legend in bold raised script, arranged across the entire field without a central motif. The inscription names Sultan Mehmed son of İbrahim Khan and invokes the formula 'may his victory be glorious,' followed by the mint name Misr (Cairo) and the AH date 1058. A small rosette or pellet ornament appears at the centre of the legend arrangement, typical of Ottoman Egyptian sultani coinage. The periphery shows a border of small pellets or dots where the flan edge permits, characteristic of hammered Ottoman gold issues. |

| Reverse description | Hammered gold flan with a bold multi-line Arabic legend filling the entire field, presented in the characteristic Ottoman sultani style with no central image. The inscription proclaims the sovereign's titles as 'Sultan of the two lands and Khagan of the two seas, the Sultan son of the Sultan,' a standard Ottoman imperial titulature. The lettering is deeply struck in raised relief with characteristic fluid calligraphic strokes. A border of small pellets runs along the coin's irregular circumference where the flan allows. On certain specimens a شرط (condition/control) mark appears within the legend field on this side. |
